The lawsuit alleges that Old Republic and its subsidiaries violated federal law by paying illegal kickbacks to real estate agents and brokers in exchange for the referral of real estate settlement services such as title insurance policies, home warranty policies, and escrow services. The lawsuit also alleges that Old Republic Home Protection Company violated California's unfair competition law by paying commissions to real estate agents and brokers to induce the real estate agents to cause their clients to buy home warranty policies from Old Republic, in violation of California Insurance Code § 12760. If you bought or sold a home at any time between January 27, 2002 and January 27, 2012, and in connection with such purchase or sale bought a home warranty policy from Old Republic or used Old Republic or any of its affiliated companies to provide title insurance or escrow services (including Old Republic National Title Insurance Company, Mississippi Valley Title Insurance Company, American Guaranty Title Insurance Company, or Republic Mortgage Insurance Company), you may be entitled to damages.
