exactEarth wins significant renewal contract09:26 EDT Thursday, May 03, 2012CAMBRIDGE, ON, May 3, 2012 /CNW/ - exactEarth Ltd., the leading provider of satellite AIS data services for global vessel tracking and monitoring, today announced that the Canadian Government has awarded it a new multi-year contract for its exactAIS® data service.  The initial $4.59 million order received under this new contract renews the current annual subscription and includes a licence for data usage throughout the whole of the Canadian Government.exactAIS is already widely used by the Marine Security Operations Centre which consists of multiple departments and agencies including the Department of National Defence, Transport Canada, the RCMP, the Canada Border Services Agency,  the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard. Typical uses include enhanced maritime security and surveillance, arctic vessel traffic monitoring and analysis, environmental protection and enforcement, regulatory compliance, economic trade analysis, and Search and Rescue (SAR) support. The decision to renew the subscription service Government-wide will enable the existing uses to be expanded and new applications to be developed, helping to secure borders, protect the environment and save lives.Peter Mabson, President of exactEarth, commented: "This renewal order, won in a competitive bid environment, continues to demonstrate how exactAIS is gaining traction in many Government departments with uses spreading beyond the traditional maritime agencies. It shows that the exactAIS data service is now being recognized as a vital part of mission-critical decision support systems.  We expect to gain further renewals and wider market penetration worldwide throughout 2012 as more and more customers realise the value of our service, and as we add to both our in-orbit and ground-based infrastructure."About exactEarth Ltd.Based in Cambridge, ON, exactEarth Ltd. is a data services company that leverages advanced microsatellite technology to deliver monitoring solutions characterized by high performance, reliability, security, and simplicity. exactEarth's service, exactAIS™, is a global vessel tracking and monitoring system based on world leading satellite-based advanced AIS detection technology.  exactEarth is jointly owned by COM DEV International Ltd (TSX: CDV) and HISDESAT Servicios Estratégicos S.A.  For more information, visit our website at  For further information: Nicole Karns Marketing Communications 519-620-5890
