(TSX:ORT) (the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to its management team. The Company is also proud to announce that it has added another patent to its intellectual property portfolio and has filed five new patent applications. In addition, Orbite wishes to provide an update on the conversion of its Cap-Chat high-purity alumina production plant as well as the latest developments on its upcoming smelter grade alumina plant, with all of these milestones aligned to its business objectives for the current year. Finally, Orbite is the proud recipient of an Alpha award for the innovation of its technological processes and announces its upcoming participation in two rare earth conventions. AppointmentsAs part of its preparation for production, Orbite has made changes to its management team, appointing Jonathan Labranche as Director, Legal Affairs, and Guy-Louis Boucher as Vice President, Sustainable Development. Both appointments take effect immediately. "The addition of Mr. Labranche to the Orbite team and the appointment of Mr. Boucher as Vice President, Sustainable Development, provide additional executive structure to initiate the upcoming production with confidence", explained Richard Boudreault, President and CEO of Orbite Aluminae. "Both individuals bring to Orbite key qualifications that will be of enormous benefit to the Company in the upcoming commercialization of our products." Jonathan Labranche, Director, Legal Affairs Mr. Labranche was called to the Bar of the Province of Quebec in 2000 and holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the Université de Montréal. Having built an impressive practice in corporate law, securities, and regulatory affairs, he has represented a range of large businesses at various stages of their development, providing consulting services in financing, mergers and acquisitions, and investor relations, to name just a few. As Director, Legal Affairs with Orbite, Mr. Labranche will act as an advisor to the management team and will handle all legal affairs for the Company, including the analysis of industry regulations applicable to the Company. He has been working with Orbite for a number of years as part of the McMillan law firm and now joins the Orbite team on a permanent basis. "As an external legal advisor to Orbite over the past two years, I had the chance to experience the dynamism, integrity and vision of this growing business firsthand", stated Mr. Labranche. Guy-Louis Boucher, Vice President, Sustainable Development Mr. Boucher has worked with Orbite since 2011 as a legal advisor and spearheaded the Company's sustainable development activities. He is now being appointed Vice President, Sustainable Development. Mr. Boucher is a senior executive with extensive experience in legal affairs and sustainable development, particularly with respect to natural resources. Together with the Company's green alumina production technology, sustainable development is a key focus of Orbite. Another Canadian patent issued; five new patent applications filed in the U.S. and abroadThe Company is proud to announce that it has received another Canadian patent and has recently filed five new patent applications. Three applications for provisional patents have been filed in the United States and target the production of smelter grade alumina, the processing and treatment of red muds, and the treatment of fly ash respectively as raw material sources. Internationally, the Company has filed two patent applications, the first involving a process to extract rare earths from materials containing aluminum and the second involving another rare earth extraction process, this one from various ores. The intellectual property portfolio of the Company now includes nine patent families, with three patents issued and 21 applications pending in nine different countries. About the Cap-Chat plant conversion and the smelter grade alumina plantAs previously announced, the Company has begun to convert its Cap-Chat plant in the Gaspé region into a high-purity alumina production facility, and work is progressing on schedule. The basic engineering phase is now finished, and more than 75% of the detailed engineering phase leading up to the final construction has also been completed. Long-lead items have been ordered from the Company's suppliers. In addition, applications for environmental certificates and authorizations have been completed and submitted to the applicable authorities. Construction work is slated to begin in June 2012. The smelter grade alumina plant is currently in the feasibility phase. Basic engineering has been completed for acid recovery; the production of smelter grade alumina, hematite and magnesium oxide; and the extraction of rare earth elements. A number of large-scale samples from various pilot sites in Canada and Europe have been extracted and analyzed. 2012 Alpha Gala Orbite Aluminae is delighted to announce that it received an Alpha award for excellence in the manufacturing sector (industrial products). The International Rare Earth Summit and the Rare Earth Elements Executive ForumOrbite will participate in the Asian Metal 2012 International Rare Earth Summit in San Francisco May 9 to 11, 2012. This event represents the largest North American gathering of market participants, encompassing rare earth producers, users, and experts, with strong delegations also coming from Asia, Europe and South America. The Company has many meetings planned and will build on this opportunity to speak with further potential partners.
