(NASDAQ: CYBX) today announced that company co-founder, Reese S. Terry, Jr., is the recipient of the 2012 Professional Career Achievement Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Engineering in Medicine & Biology Society.  The award recognizes his significant contributions to therapeutic implantable devices and procedures for the treatment of epilepsy and drug-resistant chronic depression.  Mr. Terry founded Cyberonics in December 1987, leading a development team that pioneered the company's first Vagus Nerve Stimulation Therapy (VNS Therapy®) system, which achieved FDA approvals for certain forms of epilepsy and depression in 1997 and 2005, respectively.
