New EnCase® Cybersecurity Software Connector Offers Real-Time Malware Validation and Response08:00 EDT Tuesday, May 29, 2012 PASADENA, Calif. (Business Wire) -- Guidance Software Inc. (NASDAQ:GUID), the World Leader in Digital Investigations™, today announced the availability of a software connector that integrates its EnCase® Cybersecurity incident response and data auditing software with FireEye Inc.'s Malware Protection System (MPS) to combat advanced malware threats. Through the software connector, when the FireEye MPS detects advanced malware on the network, it can immediately share information about the attack with EnCase Cybersecurity and trigger an instant forensic collection and investigation of the end points that are the target of the malware. IT security teams can learn more about the size and scope of infection via real-time endpoint data and remediate the malware. By integrating detection and response, the solution allows an organization to reduce response time to minutes as opposed to weeks and at the same time significantly lower security operation costs. It also helps organizations defend against new and unknown attacks, reduce the time between detection and response where critical data can be lost, and speeds remediation time from days or weeks to hours. “Threats against corporate and government networks are growing in numbers and skill and adversaries are experiencing greater success against their targets,” said Alex Andrianopoulos, Guidance Software vice president of marketing. “This integration helps enterprises and governments be prepared for when an attack hits so that they can respond as quickly and as accurately as possible.” “Today's advanced malware attacks require incredibly sophisticated defense and rapid response capabilities,” said Brent Remai, FireEye chief marketing officer. “Our MPS combined with EnCase Cybersecurity provides enterprises with a unified security solution and we're pleased to have worked with Guidance Software on this integration.” EnCase Cybersecurity EnCase Cybersecurity provides automated endpoint incident response capturing real-time snapshots of data relevant to the threat at hand as well as employing powerful remediation capabilities allowing an organization to initiate containment and recovery procedures without having to wait days for an anti-virus signature. FireEye MPS The FireEye Malware Protection System (MPS) is the only complete solution to stop advanced targeted attacks across the Web and email threat vectors and malware resident on file shares. The FireEye security platform offers integrated, multi-vector protection utilizing stateful attack analysis to stop all stages of an advanced attack. Each of FireEye's products features the Virtual Execution (VX) engine that provides state-of-the-art, signature-less analysis using the most sophisticated virtual machines. The Malware Protection System builds a 360-degree, stage-by-stage analysis of an advanced attack, from system exploitation to data exfiltration, in order to most effectively stop would-be APT attackers. The FireEye MPS Connector for EnCase Cybersecurity is available immediately to interested customers and will be included in the EnCase Cybersecurity 5.1 SDK. About Guidance Software, Inc.
