WellPoint Names Mike Kapp President of Federal Government Solutions15:00 EDT Monday, June 11, 2012 INDIANAPOLIS (Business Wire) -- WellPoint, Inc, (NYSE: WLP) announced today that Mike Kapp has been named senior vice president and president of Federal Government Solutions (FGS), overseeing the Federal Employee Program (FEP) and National Government Services (NGS) businesses. Kapp replaces Sandy Miller, who recently announced her retirement after 27 years in various roles at WellPoint. Kapp has more than 20 years of strategic leadership experience negotiating and managing government contracts and public/private partnerships. He joined WellPoint in 2010 as chief financial and strategy officer for its NGS business. Previously, he was executive vice president and chief financial officer for Blue Cross Blue Shield TriServ Alliance, where he managed a joint venture of seven Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans to address the U.S. government health care services market. Prior to joining TriServ, Kapp was executive vice president and chief financial officer and a key management member of the Board of Directors for VT Services Inc, a U.S. defense operating segment of VT Group plc. “Mike has been instrumental in shaping the strategic direction for NGS since joining the company,” said Lori Beer, executive vice president of WellPoint's Enterprise Business Services. “He is a visionary leader whose knowledge and leadership experience will help Federal Government Solutions grow.” Kapp will work closely with Miller over the next three weeks to ensure a smooth leadership transition. “Throughout her long career at WellPoint, Sandy has proven to be a trusted leader who has driven positive results.
