CSC's Total ICD-10 Solution to Help Healthcare Organizations Meet 2014 Compliance Deadline08:30 EDT Monday, June 18, 2012 FALLS CHURCH, Va. (Business Wire) -- CSC (NYSE: CSC) today announced the addition of end-to-end testing to its suite of implementation services for healthcare organizations working to comply with the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision (ICD-10). ICD-10 is the latest version of medical classification for the coding of diagnosis and procedure codes maintained by the World Health Organization (WHO), and the proposed deadline for U.S. healthcare organizations to implement them is October 1, 2014. The CSC suite of ICD-10 implementation solutions spans the lifecycle of required business process and technical activities, from strategy development, assessment and planning, through detailed data mapping, analytics, process redesign and systems remediation, to all phases of testing and implementation. The solutions are modular and can be implemented as an integrated package or independently based on organizational requirements, strategy and plans. “Even though the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently postponed the ICD-10 compliance date to October 2014, now is still the time for ICD-10 efforts to take on an increased urgency,” said Mark Roman, president, CSC Global Healthcare Operations. “Some healthcare organizations we are speaking with are well underway, completing remediation efforts and embarking on implementation and testing, while other organizations are still in the early stages of strategy, assessment and planning. CSC's experience with ICD-10 shows that most organizations have underestimated the scope and complexity of the implementation effort.” To assist clients in developing and deploying a balanced testing approach that supports their ICD-10 efforts, CSC has developed a focused solution — within its end-to-end ICD-10 solution suite — concentrating specifically on the critical testing phase of ICD-10 implementation. Given the criticality of this phase to the success of the entire implementation, an independent verification of the work done during testing is often desired. As part of the testing solution, which uses CSC's disciplined test strategy/planning and test execution framework, CSC has defined a series of processes to address both internal testing of systems and processes as well as external testing of an organization's ICD-10 interfaces with trading partners. CSC's testing solution also enables organizations to validate their business process scenarios, business rules, configurations and technology before meeting compliance requirements. Given the broad scope and enterprise impact of ICD-10, it is crucial for organizations to identify what they need to test in order to focus on the priority areas and meet ICD-10 compliance requirements. Drawing from its broad knowledge of health plan operations and deep technical bench, CSC has created a clear road map to ensure healthcare organizations transition quickly from ICD-9 to ICD-10. CSC's strategic alliances with vendors ensure that leading-edge tools accelerate the testing process. CSC's internal ICD-10 repository has high-level test scenarios and approximately 2,000 corresponding test cases to evaluate critical business processes. With more than 9,000 trained and experienced resources, CSC's dedicated Healthcare Testing Center of Excellence (CoE) provides the methodology, framework and rigorous process discipline for a full-spectrum and fully managed ICD-10 testing solution. CSC's core team comprises industry experts, each with at least 20 years of technical and operational experience in the health plan business. For more information, visit www.csc.com/ICD10.
