Cinema City McGillivray to Close for Extensive Renovations12:52 EDT Thursday, June 28, 2012TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 28, 2012) - Cineplex Entertainment (TSX:CGX) today announced that Cinema City McGillivray will close Monday, July 9, 2012, for the next phase of a $4.5 million renovation announced last fall.The theatre's 12 existing auditoriums will be converted to eight traditional auditoriums and three VIP cinemas.Cineplex Odeon McGillivray and VIP Cinemas will reopen this fall as a first run theatre, equipped with the latest cinema technology, including larger screens, Dolby digital surround sound, Christie Solaria™ Series DLP Cinema® projectors and RealD 3D technology."We look forward to bringing our guests a whole new level of moviegoing experience," said Pat Marshall, Vice President, Communications and Investor Relations, Cineplex Entertainment. "This renovation brings Winnipeg to the front of the line in theatre technology, concessions and the overall experience of going to the movies."The remodeled theatre will provide guests access to Cineplex Entertainment's robust alternative programming line-up that includes: Met Opera, Broadway plays, sporting events and other stage and theatre productions from around the world.The box office and lobby areas are scheduled for extensive renovations and concession areas will be remodeled to serve hot foods, such as burgers, hot dogs and fries, in addition to the traditional movie fare of popcorn, candy and soft drinks. Concessions in the VIP cinema will include specialized offerings, including flatbread pizza and calamari.Plans also call for the addition of TCBY frozen yogurt, Pizza Pizza and Outtakes.About VIP CinemasWith VIP Cinemas, guests enjoy a premium entertainment experience available exclusively in Canada at Cineplex Entertainment theatres. They feature auditoriums exclusively for adult guests, in-seat menu service, a private licensed lounge and a dedicated box office. VIP auditoriums feature reserved seating enabling guests to select their specific seat at the time of purchase. A VIP auditorium also features full stadium seating with larger, upgraded leather seats interspersed with table tops embedded in their armrest. Once seated, a cast member will present the guest with a menu and take their concession order. Ordered items will be delivered directly to the guest at their seat.
