Shaw Services Restored to Calgary Customers19:37 EDT Saturday, July 14, 2012CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - July 14, 2012) - Shaw Communications (TSX:SJR.B)(NYSE:SJR) announces that significant progress has been made following Wednesday's electrical fire at Shaw Court. At this time, customers affected by Wednesday's outage have had their services fully restored, and Shaw is able to announce that call centres throughout the country are now operational. Hundreds of customer care and technical service representatives are available to once again serve customers across Canada. "Special thanks go out to the City of Calgary and the Calgary Fire Department for their assistance in a full evacuation of the building with no injuries," said Peter Bissonnette, President, Shaw Communications Inc. "Countless individuals have been working around the clock to help restore services and get things running again." Shaw Court experienced significant water damage as a result of water from the sprinkler systems. As a result, contingency plans are being put in place to relocate employees throughout the city in order to continue business operations. Technical and IT essential staff will remain in the building 24 hours per day to monitor and support as required. Shaw completed restoration of power and facility functionality to our tenants including IBM and Corus at 5 p.m. on Thursday.A two-hour scheduled outage will take place Sunday morning at 4 a.m. to transition to an upgraded power source at Shaw Court. The planned outage will affect approximately 18,000 business and residential customers in the downtown Calgary area at a time of the most minimal impact. A number of options are available to customers to connect with Shaw - over the phone on 310-SHAW, face-to-face at Barlow and Sunridge Mall retail locations, via online chat and through social media channels. "Yesterday we had a number of street teams going door to door to connect with approximately 3,000 business customers and thank them for their patience," said Bissonnette.
