Aetna Announces Expert Panel of Judges for CarePass® Medication Reminder Challenge09:29 EDT Tuesday, August 07, 2012 HARTFORD, Conn. (Business Wire) -- Aetna (NYSE: AET) today announced the expert panel of judges for its CarePass® Medication Reminder Developer Challenge, which runs through Aug. 17. Launched June 5, the Challenge is focused on developing apps that best help consumers remember to take their medications. The winning apps will be integrated into Aetna's CarePass platform, which offers simple, integrated access to some of the best health and wellness apps in the marketplace. The judges for the CarePass Medication Reminder Developer Challenge are: Troyen Brennan, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, CVS Caremark Rebecca Burkholder, Vice President of Health Policy, National Consumers League (leading the Script Your Future adherence campaign) Alexandra Drane, Founder and Chief Visionary Officer, Eliza Corporation Bijan Salehizadeh,M.D., Managing Director, NaviMed Capital Jeff Tangney, CEO, Doximity “Our top objective for CarePass is to make it more convenient for consumers to take control of their health, and we're thrilled to announce our panel of judges who are experts in consumer health engagement,” said Martha Wofford, Aetna Vice President and Head of the CarePass platform. “We look forward to seeing the innovative and creative solutions that the developer community builds to help consumers remember to take their medications, a critical need as more and more Americans wrestle with chronic conditions.” The judges will evaluate submissions based on the features of each app, the use of the CarePass APIs, innovation and creativity, and the management team capabilities of each entry. The challenge offers a $75,000 first prize and $25,000 second prize. The winners will be announced by Aetna Chairman, CEO and President Mark T. Bertolini, during his keynote address at the Health 2.0 Fall Conference in San Francisco on Oct. 8 at 8:30 a.m. PT. The CarePass platform enables consumers to share information across apps and create a personalized, coherent experience to manage their whole health, from getting care to staying well, all with one sign-on. CarePass offers a developer portal that includes API management, documentation and support, and various communication channels. APIs currently include multiple reformatted data sets from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services alongside de-identified Aetna pharmacy data, as well as retail drug price data from GoodRx. Developers can register with the CarePass® Developer Portal here. Submissions for the CarePass Medication Reminder Developer Challenge are due Aug. 17, 2012. Winners of the Challenge will own the app, intellectual property and the right to commercialize the solution. Developers can learn more and register for the challenge here.
