P&G Congratulates Christine Sinclair, Tide Ambassador for her bronze medal performance10:41 EDT Friday, August 10, 2012 LONDON (Business Wire) -- Worldwide Olympic Partner P&G (NYSE: PG) congratulates Christine Sinclair for her performance in the historical bronze medal match at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The Tide ambassador, and captain of Team Canada, has now won her first Olympic medal, which is also the first for women's soccer in Canada and the first Olympic summer team sport medal since 1936. Although Sandra wasn't able to be in London to watch her daughter compete, she was delighted to have the chance to see Christine play on home turf for the first time in years at the Olympic qualifying tournament. P&G recognizes that no athlete makes it to the Olympics Games alone, and chances are, the one person in Canada cheering the loudest was her mom. Since P&G is in the business of helping moms, it is using its voice at the Olympic Games to say “thank you” to all moms for all they do to help their kids achieve their dreams. Its Thank You Mom campaign is the largest scale initiative in the company's 175-year history. Thom C. Lachman, President, P&G Canada, said, “Christine is an exemplary athlete and captain with an impressive career thus far. This bronze medal is an historic accomplishment, and on behalf of P&G, I want to congratulate Christine for helping to take women's soccer in Canada to a new level.” “There's been a group of us who have been on this team for a while, going through the highs and lows of international soccer and nothing compares to this,” said team captain Christine Sinclair. “This was our goal at the start of this. We all had the childhood dream of being Olympic medalists.” As part of its tribute to moms of Olympians, P&G created the Raising an Olympian video series – short, documentary-style videos that highlight an athlete's journey on the way to the London 2012 Olympic Games, as seen through the eyes of his or her mom. Sandra and Christine shared their story, which can be viewed on CTV's Olympic website: http://www.ctvolympics.ca/videos/raising-olympian/watch/raising-olympian-christine-sinclair-25607.html The Thank You Mom campaign has also been brought to life through a variety of media channels and in-store with a worldwide retailer program that began in April and will run through August. Olympic Games-themed P&G branded products will be featured in millions of stores across the globe. As a part of the P&G Thank You Mom campaign, P&G has committed to raise $5 million to support local youth sports programs in many countries, through a portion of sales and donations from the Company's leadership brands including Pampers®, Tide®, Gillette® and Pantene®.
