MetLife Foundation Scores for Charity at NY Giants-Jets Pre-Season Game17:47 EDT Thursday, August 16, 2012 NEW YORK (Business Wire) -- The annual MetLife Bowl will take place on August 18, 2012, where the New York Giants and Jets will battle it out for charity in their annual pre-season game. The winning team receives the MetLife Bowl Trophy as well as $40,000 from MetLife Foundation for the charity of their choice, while the other team receives $10,000 from the Foundation for their charity. The Jets will donate to The Trust for Public Land and the Giants will donate their proceeds to KaBOOM! “The MetLife Bowl is a great way to bring football fans and players together to support two great organizations,” said Dennis White, president and chief executive officer of MetLife Foundation. “MetLife Foundation is committed to building livable communities and proud to support both The Trust for Public Land and KaBOOM! These organizations play a critical role in the communities they serve and help ensure there are fun, safe spaces for everyone to enjoy” MetLife and MetLife Foundation have partnered with The Trust for Public Land (TPL) since 1996 to bring parks, playgrounds and other outdoor recreation spaces to diverse lower-income neighborhoods in cities nationwide. To date, the Foundation has provided more than $6.1 million in grants to TPL, including $4.1 million since 2006. MetLife Foundation has been working with KaBOOM! since 2008, providing nearly $1.7 million and contributing more than 13,000 employee volunteer hours to build fun and safe places for kids to play across the United States and Mexico. “We can't wait for game day on Saturday. There is no better way to kick-off the football season than to hand out the MetLife Bowl trophy and support two amazing charities,” added Beth Hirschhorn, chief marketing officer of MetLife. “We have even installed a life-size version of the Snoopy trophy at the West Gate stadium entrance as a symbol of good luck to the teams, and we hope its presence also encourages fans to share in the spirit of giving and support charities that benefit their own communities.” About MetLife Foundation MetLife Foundation was established in 1976 to continue MetLife's longstanding tradition of corporate contributions and community involvement.
