(TSX:GNV) ("GENIVAR" or the "Corporation") is pleased to announce that Standard and Poor's has added the Corporation to the S&P/TSX Composite Index. "Being included in the S&P/TSX Composite Index is a tremendous recognition of GENIVAR's progress over the past few years," said Pierre Shoiry, President and Chief Executive Officer. Listed securities eligible for inclusion in the S&P/TSX Composite Index must meet certain criteria which are based on a company's market capitalization, share float and share liquidity relative to other stocks in the index. GENIVAR has met all the criteria and its inclusion in the index will be effective at market open on September 24, 2012. The S&P/TSX Composite Index, which is the headline index in Canada, is an index of the stock prices of the largest companies on the Toronto Stock Exchange as measured by market capitalization. The index is calculated by Standard and Poor's, and contains both common stock and income trust units. It is the principal benchmark measure of performance for Canadian equity markets. Additions to the index are generally based on quarterly reviews.
