ISSA Lunch & Learn The Lunch & Learn session saw Jan Matthews discussing the challenges of leading a team of 25,000 volunteers, employees and third party contractors to deliver the Food and Beverage, Cleaning and Waste Programs at the London 2012 Games, and sharing best practice examples applicable to all businesses. Her key learnings shared with the audience of more than 200 ISSA attendees included: Select vendor partners who bring added value to your business, not just cost savings, Be clear on requirements and expectations when contracting, Develop a strong measurement model and ensure it is enforced, Put a mechanism in place for customer feedback … and act on it, and Ensure that workers understand and are recognized for the importance of their job. “The London 2012 Games was the world's biggest peacetime catering operation, serving over 15 million meals in 77 days. Safety was of paramount importance, to ensure a big success rather than a big issue.
