Cigna Global Health Benefits Receives Alexander Hamilton Award for Green Strategy11:48 EST Tuesday, November 06, 2012
WILMINGTON, Del. (Business Wire) -- Cigna Global Health Benefits was selected by Treasury & Risk
magazine as the 2012 Silver Alexander Hamilton Award Winner in the “Best
Green Strategies” category. The award recognizes excellence and
innovation in treasury management and finance at top companies worldwide.
Cigna (NYSE: CI), the leader in serving the globally mobile workforce,
was selected for the award based on its successful launch of a
paperless, “green” Explanation of Benefits (EOB) document, which
outlines for patients the medical treatments and services that are paid
on their behalf.
“We're delighted to be selected as a Silver AHA Winner,” said Tom
Philibotte, operations senior director, Cigna Global Health Benefits.
“This award reflects the effort we devoted to listening to customers and
health care professionals, and working to create a process that improves
our customers' experience and promotes a better environment.”
Cigna uses Bottomline's WebSeries®
enterprise payments hub to generate EOBs and to automate payments,
allowing patients, doctors, and hospitals to view statements and
remittance advice online rather than receiving them through the mail.
This enables Cigna to save postage and paper and reduce its carbon
footprint, while providing clients and customers with an efficient,
easy-to-use method of accessing important payment and patient
information.
Through the green approach, Cigna's 880,000 globally mobile customers in
more than 205 countries and jurisdictions across the globe can opt-out
of receiving paper EOBs in the mail. Paperless EOBs are accessible
through Cigna's online customer website, Cigna Envoy®, from
anywhere in the world.
