D&B Releases Free Tool to Identify Businesses Potentially Impacted by Hurricane Sandy14:30 EST Tuesday, November 06, 2012
SHORT HILLS, N.J. (Business Wire) -- D&B (NYSE: DNB), the world's leading source of commercial information
and insight on businesses, has released a free search tool available at www.dnb.com
that allows identification of businesses located in the 19 counties in
the Eastern United States identified by FEMA as most impacted by
Hurricane Sandy. This information will help organizations begin to
assess their exposure to financial and business continuity risk
resulting from the storm.
Drawing from its unparalleled data sources and working with FEMA, D&B
has identified roughly 1.5 million businesses in New York, New Jersey
and Connecticut that account for the worst potential impact. People will
be able to search by company name or D-U-N-S ® Number to identify if an
organization is located in the affected region. The search tool will
provide information on which companies are in the impact zone but cannot
provide on-demand detailed reports due to conditions in the region.
The complete list of potentially impacted businesses in the region is
also available to D&B customers upon request from their D&B account
representative or by contacting D&B customer service.
“Our thoughts are with all the impacted people as they begin to
stabilize and rebuild,” said Josh Peirez, President, Product, Innovation
and Marketing. “This event has far-reaching effects that will have an
effect on business for months and years to come. As we've done in
previous disaster situations, we are making our data available to the
general public in order to help companies who are seeking to better
understand how this will impact them in the short and long term.”
Organizations interested in the extent of impact to a specific business
can purchase an investigation from D&B.
D&B is continually monitoring the situation and will continue to work
with FEMA to narrow down the scope of potentially impacted businesses.
