STAMFORD, Conn. (Business Wire) -- Frontier Communications (NASDAQ: FTR) announced that College Hill Custom
Threads, located in Pullman, Washington, won the “Frontier Small
Business Social All Star Contest.” College Hill Custom Threads edged out
five semi-finalists in the nationwide contest. More than 900 companies,
primarily from the 27 states served by Frontier, entered the social
media competition, which ended October 21, 2012.
Small business customers registered for the contest and then, using the
social media skills Frontier provided in webinars, rallied their
customers, friends and acquaintances to show community support by
“liking” them on Facebook. The company that received the highest score
for creative strategy implemented during the activity period and had the
most “Likes” over a five-day period in October won the grand prize.
$10,000 in Frontier products and services was awarded to help the
winning company improve its business through better communication
products and solutions.
“Frontier recognizes that social media is important to small businesses
with tight budgets. This contest was designed to further educate
companies on how to use social media, to be more effective online and
improve their online presence. It is just one more way we offer
assistance to our small business customers. Frontier helped 912
companies connect with their communities during the contest,” said
Martin Erkela, Frontier general manager in Pullman. “We are so proud
that one of our local businesses took home the grand prize of $10,000 in
Frontier products and services!”
Tony Poston is the owner of College Hill Custom Threads and was excited
to win this contest. He challenged everyone to support his business with
a “Like” on his page and announced he would shave his head if his
business took first place. True to his word, he shaved his head and
posted a video
of the event on YouTube.
“College Hill Custom Threads was formed with one goal in mind: To
provide unique, affordable, quality custom apparel with great customer
service,” said Poston. “This contest was a lot of fun and the winning
package will help us achieve our goal. I am very proud of our team of
employees, reps and interns who helped us reach the level of success we
have today.”
The other small business semi-finalists were CH Pet Gifts, Sun Prairie,
Wisconsin; Porch Rockin', Raleigh, North Carolina; Pine Cradle Lake
Family Campground, Towanda, Pennsylvania; J. Gumbo's, Delaware, Ohio;
and Moonit, an online company.
