Grants Available for Volunteer Fire Departments & Emergency Response Organizations13:22 EST Thursday, January 17, 2013 VOORHEES, N.J. (Business Wire) -- Recognizing the bravery and heroism of the volunteer firefighters and first responders in our communities, New Jersey American Water announces its 2013 grant program for volunteer fire departments and emergency responders (e.g., ambulance and first aid squads) located in the company's service areas. Grants will be awarded to cover the costs associated with purchasing personal protective gear, communications equipment, firefighting tools, water handling equipment, training and related activities/materials that will be used to support their operations. The maximum grant amount is $1,000. The deadline to apply is Feb. 28, 2013.
