LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Business Wire) -- Last month, KFC launched its revolutionary new Original Recipe® Boneless chicken and accompanying “I Ate the Bones” advertising campaign to respond to an increase in consumer demand for boneless menu items. Now, the world's most famous chicken restaurant chain is giving consumers the chance to try the product for free, while also inviting them to show off their best “I Ate the Bones” reaction for a chance to win prizes.

On Monday, May 6, KFC is hosting the Original Recipe Boneless Happy Hour between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at participating restaurants. The first 100 consumers in each location to say the phrase “I Ate the Bones” or to ask for a free piece of Original Recipe Boneless will get to enjoy one piece of the new boneless, skinless chicken for free.
“Original Recipe Boneless is a product you have to taste to believe, so we're excited about providing free samples to America during Happy Hour on May 6,” said Jason Marker, Chief Marketing Officer for KFC US. “Just be among the first 100 people to visit a KFC restaurant between 2 and 4 and say, ‘I Ate the Bones,' or ask for a free piece of Original Recipe Boneless and we'll set you up.”
“I Ate the Bones” Facebook Contest Celebrates Ad Campaign
To celebrate the brand's new Original Recipe Boneless ad campaign, KFC also recently launched the “I Ate the Bones” Facebook app and contest, in which consumers can post a photo or video with their best “I Ate the Bones” reaction. Participants can submit entries via Facebook, Twitter, Vine or Instagram and then share the submission to encourage friends and family to vote for their entries. Submissions should include the hashtag #iatethebones.
Through June 8, weekly winners will be chosen to receive an “I Ate the Bones” t-shirt and KFC gift checks. Five Grand Prize winners will be selected to receive $1,000 and a chance to be featured in a KFC online or social media advertisement within the next year.
“‘I Ate the Bones' is really catching on with the public, so we thought it would be fun to reward some of our customers' most creative interpretations of the advertising tagline,” Marker said. “The five people who have the most creative executions will win $1,000 and a chance to appear in a KFC online ad.”
