SurePayroll Announces SureSpark Grant Winner16:19 EST Tuesday, November 27, 2012 GLENVIEW, Ill. (Business Wire) -- Following Small Business Saturday when the nation was reminded to support their local “small business,” SurePayroll, a leading provider of payroll services for small businesses, today announced a $5,000 SureSpark grant will be awarded to Allison Madison, Seattle, WA., to help spark her business. Allison is the owner of PerSyst Consulting, a Seattle-based consulting company that provides comprehensive consulting services seamlessly combining three major practice areas: executive strategy, business process optimization and enterprise technology for both manufacturing and service companies. The grant was awarded after Madison, along with thousands of other small business owners, entered for the chance to win a $5,000 grant to put towards their business ambitions at Tory Johnson's Spark & Hustle small business events, which took place in 18 locations across the country throughout 2012. Additionally, as a sponsor, SurePayroll awarded a year of free payroll services to a number of business owners at each event. Madison‘s name was drawn first out of all the entrants, and she will be using the grant to fund 2013 marketing efforts. “Spark & Hustle events are designed to remind us of the critical importance of small businesses to our economy. We're happy to participate in projects that support entrepreneurs because starting a business isn't easy – it has many unforeseen costs and even a small grant can help turn the corner on profits,” said Michael Alter, president & CEO of SurePayroll. “Many startups are experiencing difficulties funding their businesses and we are proud to participate in an exciting movement started by Spark & Hustle Founder Tory Johnson to help fuel the entrepreneurial spirit.” Tory Johnson's Spark & Hustle began in 2011 with a national tour of events to help women entrepreneurs turn their passion into a profitable business. Thousands of women nationwide have attended the events. Johnson, an ABC News small business contributor, also authored a best-selling book featuring important advice for entrepreneurs – some of which was gleaned along the tour. “We are so excited to receive the grant. This allows us to implement our marketing plan to grow our business. The timing of the grant is fantastic for our 2013 marketing strategy to really improve our presence in the greater Seattle area,” said Madison, principal, PerSyst Consulting. “We really appreciate SurePayroll and their role in helping entrepreneurs.” About SurePayroll SurePayroll is a wholly owned subsidiary of Paychex, providing an easy, online, convenient payroll service that keeps our more than 40,000 small business customers in control.
