MoneyGram Teams with Lifestyle Expert to Bring Families Closer for Mother's Day

09:12 EDT Wednesday, May 01, 2013

DALLAS (Business Wire) -- MoneyGram (NYSE: MGI) is once again pairing with Hispanic lifestyle expert Marlene Pratt, co-founder of Casa Latina, to present creative gift ideas that bring families closer this Mother's Day. In addition, the leading global money transfer company is inviting consumers to create a customizable Mother's Day card through an app on the company's Facebook page, which can be shared with family and friends to make their mothers feel special.

“Mother's Day is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate our respect and gratitude for mothers around the world,” said Juan Agualimpia, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, MoneyGram. “If distance separates you from spending the day together as a family, there are many ways to show appreciation for your mother. Our MoneyGram spokesperson and TV personality Marlene Pratt, offers creative ideas, including sending moms money as a gift, which is common and appreciated in many cultures.”

MoneyGram is giving its own gift to families who want to share special memories through an interactive custom Facebook photo application available on the company's Facebook page. Consumers can upload a picture and create a Mother's Day themed timeline or cover photo that can be customized with decorations and a caption that can be shared via Facebook post or downloaded and shared via email or Twitter.

Along with designing a custom Facebook photo, consumers can take advantage of creative gift ideas from home and lifestyle expert Pratt, who bases her advice on what she learned from her own Mother's Day gift-giving experiences. “Give some thought to your mother's interests and preferences so that your gift connects to the personal feelings and relationships unique to your family,” she advises.

Pratt suggests these affordable and creative gift ideas to celebrate the close bonds of motherhood this Mother's Day:

  • The Sentimental Mother: Create a scrapbook to display photos of family memories in one place, and ask each member of the family to contribute a note about their favorite memory.
  • The To-Do List Mother: For the mother with an endless list of projects, tackle items on her “to-do” list throughout the day, such as cleaning the house, washing her car, or just taking care of the piled-up laundry.
  • The Career Mother: Whisk your mother away to her own spa retreat at home – complete with candles, bubble bath, lotions, and a new robe – so she can finally have time to unwind.
  • The Long-Distance Mother: When it's not possible to be with your mother on Mother's Day, a gift of cash sent through a MoneyGram money transfer will guarantee she gets exactly what she wants.

“Expressing gratitude and love for our mothers has become an important gesture in many cultures,” said Pratt. “Regardless of our specific traditions or the distance between loved ones, Mother's Day is an opportunity to show appreciation for your mother and bring the entire family closer together.”
