TECHNOLOGY BRIEF: Acer's First Full-Featured 8.1-Inch Tablet Running Windows 8 Now Available for Pre-Sale at Office Depot

09:00 EDT Wednesday, June 05, 2013

BOCA RATON, Fla (Business Wire) -- Complete computing is now available in the palm of your hand, and Office Depot (NYSE: ODP) is making it available for consumers to do business, homework or enjoy their entertainment while on the go. The all new Acer Iconia W3 is available now for pre-order at your local Office Depot retail location or for $349.99 (32GB).

Acer's Iconia W3 is the industry's first full-featured 8.1-inch tablet that runs Windows 8 and comes pre-installed with Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013, a $139.99 value. It is ideal for business people, students and families who use Word, Excel and PowerPoint for work and school.

The slim and lightweight design of the Iconia W3 provides consumers with a new and more effective way to take their fun and productivity on the go. The incorporation of Windows 8 keeps files, photos, and contacts synced across other Windows 8 devices, so consumers can work effectively and efficiently whether on-the-go or in the office or home.

“In today's busy world, people increasingly feel the need to be connected 24/7,” said Randy Wick, Chief Technology Buyer for Office Depot. “With the fully integrated Acer Iconia W3 tablet, users can now conduct business, complete school work or stay tapped into life moments whenever the need strikes them.”

The new tablet is powered by an Intel mobile-optimized processor to smoothly handle a range of apps, including web browsing and digital enjoyment. The Acer Iconia W3 also features eight hours of battery life, Wi-Fi, front-and-rear facing cameras, micro-HDMI & micro-USB ports, and integrated Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.

The tablet and assorted accessories including the optional full-size Bluetooth keyboard will be available for immediate purchase online and at nationwide Office Depot retail locations beginning June 16.
