GE Names Susan P. Peters Head of Human Resources; Raghu Krishnamoorthy to Succeed Peters as Head of Executive Development and CLO of GE

08:30 EDT Monday, July 01, 2013

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (Business Wire) -- GE [NYSE: GE] Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt announced today the appointment of Susan P. Peters as Senior Vice President, Human Resources, succeeding John Lynch, who is retiring. Immelt also announced that Raghu Krishnamoorthy, Vice President of Human Resources for GE Aviation, will succeed Peters as head of Executive Development and Chief Learning Officer for GE, and that Ernest W. Marshall, Jr., Global Human Resources leader for Aviation Systems, will succeed Krishnamoorthy as Vice President of Human Resources for GE Aviation. The appointments are effective August 1, 2013.

Peters, 60, a 34-year veteran of GE, has been responsible for talent identification, leadership development and succession planning for GE executives worldwide since 2001, and was named Chief Learning Officer in 2007. In that role she continued to enhance the company's leadership development efforts, extending the reach of the Crotonville leadership learning institute as a global ideal of performance.

“No one knows the culture and people of our company better than Susan,” said Immelt. “Under her leadership, GE has built on its proud tradition of developing the best leaders in business. And her rejuvenation of our learning capabilities, including modernizing and globalizing our courses and facilities, will ensure that we have great leaders in the future. Susan also has helped to redefine our leadership brand externally, and is recognized as one of the leading experts on culture and leaders.”

Peters has been an Officer of GE since 1997. She joined the company in 1979 through the Human Resource Management Program and has held senior human resources positions in GE businesses, including Plastics and Appliances. In 2000, she became executive vice president of Human Resources for NBC. Peters graduated from St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, with a B.A. in English Literature and from the University of Virginia with a Master's of Education.

Peters succeeds John Lynch, 60, who is retiring after 22 years with GE, serving in global roles first at GE Capital and then at GE Healthcare before moving to Corporate. Lynch has been head of Human Resources at GE since 2007.

“John has been a great partner to me and to the entire leadership team over the past seven years,” said Immelt. “He's led numerous changes to globalize the company, transform the HR organization, and contemporize our legacy benefits and compensation programs. He has built a strong talent pipeline within HR and globally, and made us think more globally in growing leaders and businesses. We are grateful to John for his many contributions to our company.”

Raghu Krishnamoorthy, 52, who succeeds Peters as Vice President of Executive Development and Chief Learning Officer, has extensive human resources experience at GE, including several global and operational leadership roles. Krishnamoorthy joined GE in 1994; he holds a Master's degree in business administration from the Indian Institution of Management, Ahmedabad, India.

Succeeding Krishnamoorthy as Vice President of Human Resources at GE Aviation is Ernest W. Marshall, Jr., 44. Marshall joined GE in 1997, and has served as Global Human Resources leader for Aviation Systems since 2009.
