11:56 EDT Monday, July 08, 2013

SINGAPORE (Business Wire) -- In a move to bolster talent development and acquisition, Hill+Knowlton Strategies has appointed Veronica Tan to be the firm's regional HR director in Asia. Tan will be based in Singapore and report directly to John Morgan, president and chief executive officer, H+K Strategies, Asia.

“A successful workforce strategy is crucial to ensure the continued growth of our business, particularly in a talent-competitive market such as Asia,” Morgan said. “The appointment of Veronica demonstrates our commitment to staff development, talent management and acquisition to further elevate our services and capabilities at the regional level.”

Tan brings more than 20 years' experience in human resources management to the firm and is often described as well-connected and possesses a sharp eye for talented individuals. She will support the development of H+K's global initiatives and policies as part of the global talent organization, and manage activities and performances of the talent management function throughout Asia. She will also continue to strengthen H+K's position as an employer of choice, and oversee the effective implementation of performance management and staff development programmes across the region.

Tan's appointment echoes H+K's commitment to attract, retain and develop the best talent in the industry. Tan will also oversee the Asia implementation of H+K University, a global training platform designed to deliver outstanding training opportunities which are relevant, accessible and focused on the skills required by today's clients. H+K University comprises two tiers of training designed to focus on the critical aspects of both communications and consulting. Suitable for employees at all levels, H+K University equips the firm's strong team of consultants with a wide variety of skills – ranging from presentation delivery, time management, writing, to H+K's unique approach to strategic communications consulting.

Tan said, “I am extremely excited to join one of the most prolific and capable communications consultancies in Asia. The vibrancy and rich diversity of the firm have always attracted the most talented individuals. I am looking forward to my active function here at H+K to help our teams connect with the brightest minds and pave the way for our consultants to grow together with the business.”

Prior to her current role, she was general manager of human resources at Jones the Grocer International where she was responsible for the setup of a new human resources organizational structure. She has also worked at FJ Benjamin (Singapore), Capella Singapore, and Starwood Hotels and Resorts. Tan graduated from Curtin University of Technology with a Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations.
