MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 7, 2013) - CML HealthCare Inc. (TSX:CLC) (the "Company" or "CML"), a leading community-based provider of laboratory and medical imaging services in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia, is pleased to announce that it has partnered with the Brant Community Healthcare System to provide outpatient laboratory specimen collection and testing services for the Haldimand Family Healthcare Team in Hagersville and referral laboratory services for Brant Community Healthcare System, West Haldimand General Hospital in Hagersville and the Norfolk General Hospital in Simcoe. The estimated value of the contract is approximately $0.6 million over five years.
"CML HealthCare was selected through a competitive procurement process which stressed our quality and capabilities to partner with hospitals. It is a revolutionary approach to providing integrated services among the hospitals, Family Health Team and CML for the benefit of all stakeholders," said Thomas Wellner, President and Chief Executive Officer of CML. "This relationship is the first of many partnerships that CML intends to develop with regional hospitals to provide quality and timely healthcare information to improve people's lives."
"The West Haldimand General Hospital has a long history of innovative partnerships with expert providers in order to bring quality healthcare to our patients," said Mr. David Bird, CEO of the West Haldimand General Hospital. "We're proud that this partnership with CML will allow specimen collection to remain in Hagersville so citizens who live in the area will continue to experience excellent care close to home."
"The Brant Community Healthcare System is no stranger to firsts," said Sarah McVanel, spokesperson for the Brant Community Healthcare System. "We are pleased this partnership will expedite tests referred off site through an electronic interface, enhancing our ability to provide patient first care that uses our limited healthcare resources wisely. We are also pleased this solution supports Hagersville residents to continue to have quality lab testing in their own community."
"I cannot express my deep appreciation enough to CML, who in the spirit of cooperation has put forth a proposal that has saved our outpatient lab services in Hagersville," said Doug Madill, Chair, Haldimand Family Health Team.
