HSBC Bank Canada's charitable giving highlighted in annual Public Accountability Statement

VANCOUVER, April 26, 2013 /CNW/ - Earth Rangers, the Nature Conservancy of Canada, Laval University and the United Way have all benefited from donations from HSBC Bank Canada and are among the organizations profiled in the HSBC Bank Canada in the Community 2012 report. This Public Accountability Statement for HSBC Bank Canada, its subsidiaries and affiliates is now available.

The report also contains information on other educational, environmental and community organizations supported by HSBC Bank Canada as well as information on HSBC's commitment to its employees and customers.

Paulo Maia, President and Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Bank Canada, said: "In 2012 HSBC Bank Canada provided support to over 130 charitable organizations in Canada, allowing these groups to provide valuable programming across the country. The majority of our funding is directed towards programs and initiatives related to education and the environment and we are especially proud that a large portion of our educational giving provides increased access to post-secondary education through scholarships and awards. We believe that education provides life-changing opportunities for young people and is a fundamental building block for economic development."
