Jillian MacLaughlin Crowned Winner of Big Brother Canada

23:54 EDT Thursday, May 02, 2013

Gary Levy Comes in a Close Second and Takes Home $20,000

Emmett Blois Becomes Final Member ofThe Jury

TORONTO, May 2, 2013 /CNW/ - In tonight's dramatic season finale, Jillian MacLaughlin was named winner of Big Brother Canada , taking home the grand prize including $100,000, a brand new 2013 Chevrolet Trax and a $25,000 home shopping spree at The Brick. In the most shocking vote of the season Jillian beat out Gary Levy four votes to three.

"I feel really excited and overwhelmed. I can't really believe it," said Jillian MacGlaughlin. "I just need to take a breath and let it settle in 100 per cent."

In the two hour finale the three finalists battled in a three part Head of Household (HOH) competition, testing them both physically and mentally. Having each won one of the first two competitions, Emmett Blois and Gary competed against each other in the final trivia challenge where Gary came out victorious. As the new and final HOH Gary held the power to instantly evict one of the houseguests and sent Emmett packing.

After each of the seven jurors had the opportunity to ask questions of the two finalists, the jury cast their votes for Canada's first Big Brother Canada winner. In an intense jury vote Topaz Brady cast her vote for Jillian, a decision that proved to be an error and one she later came to regret. With only one vote between them, Jillian came out the victor over Gary.

This season may be over but there's more Big Brother in store. Big Brother 15, launches June 26 at 9pm on Global.
