Sandvine Receives Over $4 Million in Initial Orders from National South East Asian Operator07:00 EDT Monday, May 06, 2013
WATERLOO, ON, May 6, 2013 /CNW/ - Sandvine, (TSX:SVC) a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for fixed and mobile operators, today announced that it has received over $4 million in initial orders from a nationwide South East Asian operator. The operator has fixed and mobile properties, with the initial orders relating to the fixed line network.
After a thorough evaluation, the new customer has chosen Sandvine's solutions to integrate with the operator's existing PCRF (Policy Charging and Rules Function) and 3GPP policy framework to support the enforcement of new subscriber service tiers, and to manage network traffic for an optimal subscriber experience. Both of these initiatives and future business decisions will be informed by the real-time network information and forecasting capabilities of Sandvine's Network Analytics business intelligence solution.
"The operator has created a new Department of Customer Experience Management dedicated to the optimization of the Internet experience for their subscribers. Sandvine's Network Analytics dashboards will play a key role in helping the organization understand how subscribers are experiencing the network, usage trends, and what service tiers may be attractive in the future," said Tom Donnelly, Sandvine's COO, Sales and Global Services.
In an April market update, Heavy Reading analyst Graham Finnie noted the growing significance of advanced analytics capabilities to network operators. "This has become an increasingly important application. The aim is to use data gathered by policy elements (including DPI appliances or software) to modify service plans so that they maximize revenue, subscriber value and cost-efficiency. One consequence of this is that dedicated analytics tools have become a much more important part of the policy mix," said Finnie.
All solutions will leverage Sandvine's PTS 24000 hardware platform. The PTS is powered by the Sandvine Policy Engine and a high-performance packet processing operating system executing on purpose-built, carrier-grade hardware.
Sandvine's network policy control solutions add intelligence to fixed, mobile and converged communications service provider networks to enable services that can increase revenue and reduce network costs. Powered by Sandvine's Policy Engine and SandScript policy language, Sandvine's networking equipment performs end-to-end policy control functions including traffic classification, and policy decision and enforcement across the data, control and business planes. Sandvine's products provide actionable business insight, the ability to deploy new subscriber services and tools to optimize traffic while enhancing subscriber Internet quality of experience.
Sandvine's network policy control solutions are deployed in more than 200 networks in over 85 countries, serving hundreds of millions of data subscribers worldwide, www.sandvine.com.
