PetroNova provides operational update on its drilling and production activities in the Llanos Basin17:00 EDT Monday, June 24, 2013
CALGARY, June 24, 2013 /CNW/ - PetroNova Inc. ("PetroNova" or the "Company") (TSX-V: PNA), a company engaged in the exploration and development of oil and natural gas resources in Colombia, today provided an operational update on its drilling and production activities in the Llanos Basin (in which PetroNova has 20 percent working interest).
The Atarraya-4 well at the Atarraya discovery in Block CPO-7 was directionally drilled from the Atrarraya-1 surface pad and completed in the upper C-7 Carbonera sands as reported by the Company on June 5, 2013. Atarraya-3, also drilled directionally from the Atarraya-1 surface pad and the last well of the current drilling campaign, encountered water bearing upper C-7 Carbonera sands and is being completed as a disposal well for eventual injection of the formation water produced by the Atarraya-1 and -4 wells.
The Atarraya-1 well is currently under extended tests and the Atarraya-4 well will be added to the extended test process as soon as Agencia Nacional de Hidrocarburos (ANH) approval is obtained.
In the CPO-13 Block, the Pendare-1 and Pendare-2 extended tests phase is expected to initiate promptly upon ANH approval. A production optimization pilot project will be implemented that will allow blending of the Atarraya and Pendare crudes in order to reduce transportation costs and take advantage of additional and flexible crude off-take opportunities.
The Company, through its subsidiaries, is engaged in the exploration for, and the acquisition and development of, oil and natural gas resources in South America, specifically in Colombia. The Company's assets currently include the Company's interests in the PUT-2 and Tinigua Blocks located in the Caguan-Putumayo Basin in Colombia, both of which are operated by the Company, and the non-operated Llanos Blocks located in the Llanos Basin in Colombia.
