CIBC offers assistance to clients affected by severe flooding in Alberta

09:52 EDT Tuesday, June 25, 2013

CALGARY, June 25, 2013 /CNW/ - CIBC (TSX: CM) (NYSE: CM) announced today additional financial support to clients in Alberta affected by the flooding. This can include:

  • Deferring payments on mortgages, loans and credit card bills;
  • Re-amortizing mortgage payments to lower monthly costs; and
  • Crediting client accounts for any fees caused by overdrafts, insufficient funds, early withdrawals on term deposits or use of non-CIBC bank machines.

"Our thoughts are with everyone in Alberta dealing with the severe flooding," said Mark Galbraith, CIBC's Region Head for Alberta. "The impact of the floods is unprecedented and many Albertans are dealing with disruption to their income or have unexpected expenses. We are here to help our clients, whether they need extra time to make payments or assistance to address the cost of clean up and repair."

Clients who may be experiencing a loss of income or other financial impact are encouraged to contact their CIBC Advisor or call 1-877-454-9030 to discuss their financial situation and get personalized advice.

CIBC recently donated $100,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to assist with relief efforts in Alberta. CIBC is also accepting donations to the Red Cross at all branches across Canada.

While some branches in Alberta are closed for safety reasons, CIBC clients can call Telephone Banking 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-800-465-2422 for everyday banking needs. You can also bank online at CIBC.com, or through your mobile device.
