Atmel maXTouch Controllers Deliver Flawless Touchscreen Performance In Three Popular Kyocera Smartphones for the US and Japan Markets
SAN JOSE, Calif., April 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Atmel® Corporation (NASDAQ: ATML), a leader in microcontroller and touch technology solutions, today announced Kyocera has selected Atmel to provide touchscreen controllers for its new Rise, Hydro and Digno S smartphones.
The Atmel maXTouch® mXT112E touchscreen controller is powering both the Kyocera Rise and Hydro 3.5-inch touchscreens, and the Atmel maXTouch mXT224S is powering the Digno S 4.7-inch touchscreen.
With Atmel maXTouch touchscreen controllers, users enjoy multi-touch experiences with faster response times, higher accuracy with less unintended touches, lower power consumption, brighter displays and better operation even around noisy chargers.

The Rise smartphone also includes a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, while the Hydro is extremely water resistant.
Both the Rise and Hydro smartphones are available in the US markets today.
Key features for the Digno S smartphone include:
- Over 18 hours of talk time with a 2,520mAh battery
- 4.7-inch Android 4.0 handset
- 1.5GHz dual-core device through KDDI
- Available in three colors: white, pink and blue
The Kyocera Digno S is available in the Japanese market today.
