McCormick Announces 73rd Annual Unsung Heroes Awards Banquet

Scholar, author and business leader, Wes Moore to address student athletes.

SPARKS, Md., April 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- McCormick & Company, Incorporated (NYSE: MKC), a global leader in flavor, today announced that Wes Moore, will deliver the keynote address at the 73rd Annual McCormick Unsung Heroes Award Banquet to be held on Monday, May 6 at the Marriott Hunt Valley Inn. Moore is a best-selling author whose fascinating story of another Wes Moore - a man who shared his name and much of his personal history has captivated readers and has been optioned to become a motion picture.

The banquet will salute deserving male football players and female basketball players.  A total of 115 high school seniors from 73 Baltimore area public, private, parochial and independent schools have been nominated.  Two of the honorees?one male and one female, will receive the 2013 Charles Perry McCormick Scholarship, valued at $36,000 over four academic years.

Originally established in 1940 by former CEO Charles P. McCormick, the program recognizes unselfish team play and honors those who contribute substantially to the success of their teams without receiving acclaim.  The program is reflective of McCormick's core belief in The Power of People.

More than 700 city and county officials, school administrators, coaches and family are expected to attend this year's event.
