Broadcom Announces Dr. Ting Wei Li as SVP of Sales and President of Greater China

08:10 EDT Monday, July 08, 2013

IRVINE, Calif., July 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ: BRCM), a global innovation leader in semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communications, today announced the appointment of Dr. Ting Wei Li as Senior Vice President of Sales for China, Taiwan and Hong Kong and President of Greater China. Dr. Li will direct Broadcom's regional sales strategy and operations, business development and partner programs. He will also lead Broadcom's engagement with regional standards and policy setting organizations.

"Dr. Li is one of the highest-caliber semiconductor executives in China today, possessing strong credibility with customers, design houses, carriers and stakeholders in all relevant ecosystems in network infrastructure, broadband and mobile segments," said Michael Hurlston, Broadcom's Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales. "Hiring Dr. Li reflects the strategic importance of the region and our intention to grow and develop our customer base in the geography."

Dr. Li has spent his career serving China's largest mobile and consumer electronics companies, leading teams of highly skilled engineers and working with U.S.-headquartered companies to advance their operations in the region. He joins Broadcom from Marvell where he served as Vice President and China General Manager. Prior to Marvell, Dr. Li was head of Qualcomm's Shanghai office and Senior Director of Business Development. Previously he served as Technical Deputy at Lucent Technologies and held research positions in the U.S. and China. Dr. Li began his career in a variety of research roles in materials science and experimental physics.

"China is at the nexus of converging TV, Internet and telecom markets and Broadcom is poised to take advantage of underlying technology trends such as next-generation broadcasting, cloud computing, digital TV transition, PON, broadband growth, near field communications and the rise of low cost smartphones," said Dr. Li. "These trends, together with the chance to work with the world-class engineering talent and executive team at Broadcom, made this a remarkable opportunity."

Dr. Li earned a Ph.D. in experimental physics from Leiden University in the Netherlands, a Master of Science degree from the Chinese Academy of Science and a Bachelor of Science degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He joined Broadcom on July 8 and is based in Shanghai.
