Despite Love of Travel, More than Half of Americans Don't Have a Travel Bucket List According to New Capital One Survey

The Capital One Venture Card Helps Americans Explore the World

MCLEAN, Va., July 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Snorkeling in Bora Bora, hiking the Himalayas, whale-watching in Maui ? most Americans dream of amazing travel experiences, but a recent survey by Capital One (NYSE: COF), revealed that more than half of Americans (58 percent) do not have a travel bucket list of destinations to visit in their lifetime. If the first step to achieving a goal is writing it down, the Capital One Venture Card is encouraging people to create their own travel bucket lists and then start making their travel aspirations a reality.

With double miles on every purchase and the flexibility to use those miles for any travel expense, the Venture Card can help people start checking off their bucket list destinations even faster.

According to the survey, popular U.S. travel spots rose to the top of Americans' bucket lists. In fact, four out of the five top destinations are located in the United States with Hawaii (57 percent) at the top followed by the Grand Canyon (38 percent), Niagara Falls (35 percent) and New York City (33 percent). The Great Barrier Reef in Australia (34 percent) was the top international choice. The survey also found that of those who do have a bucket list in mind, almost half (49 percent) have not yet checked off any of the destinations on their list.

The survey was fielded 06/12/2013 ? 06/14/2013 using Toluna's omnibus services and the SmartSelect(SM) sampling methodology among a nationally representative sample of 1,000 respondents.
