CA Technologies Offers Customers Same-Day Support for IBM DB2 v11 for z/OS for Improved Database Management10:30 EDT Tuesday, October 01, 2013
ISLANDIA, N.Y. (Business Wire) -- CA Technologies (NASDAQ:CA) today announced “Day One” support for IBM DB2 v11 for z/OS.
Customers who have installed CA Database Management Solutions for DB2 for z/OS version 17.0 (DB2 Tools 17.0), a suite of interoperable solutions to improve database administration, are able to take advantage of the capabilities of IBM DB2 v11 to boost efficiency and reliability of data backup and recovery, and achieve higher service levels, data availability and application responsiveness.
This is important to global banks and other large companies that rely on the mainframe as a cornerstone of the modern IT environment. For many companies it is vital to remain current with the latest capabilities of IBM System z, the most advanced commercial computer available. System z combines high speed and secure transaction processing with state-of-the-art application facilities, integrated analytics and cloud computing, and is central to keeping businesses up and running 24/7.
“Our day-one support is an example of our unwavering commitment to supporting IBM System z advancements,” said Michael Madden, general manager, Mainframe, CA Technologies. “As IBM increases the value of its offerings to customers with DB2, we realize the need to be in lock-step with them so our customers can reap the full benefits.”
With each IBM DB2 release, CA Technologies keeps customers up to date, maximizing the value of their IT investments. This is critical to making customers' data centers dynamic, so they can respond quickly to business needs.
“IBM DB2 v11, along with CA Database Management for DB2 for z/OS, is a solid solution which provides us with the support we need to be sure our DB2 databases provide our customers with the greatest level of service possible,” said Berend Hagedorn, database administrator at GAD eG, a Münster, Germany-based company specializing in banking IT.
In order to achieve same-day support, CA Technologies has tested many products and components on behalf of customers and IBM. This investment in development and testing underscores the company's commitment to its customers and its partnership with IBM.
One of the most important DB2 11 features supported by CA Technologies is Extended Logging, which is designed to reduce the risk of outages, therefore helping customers to achieve higher availability of their IT services.
IBM DB2 v11 is one of many IBM solutions that CA Technologies supports to help customers manage IBM System z. CA Technologies is a leading independent software vendor (ISV) for IBM System z and its operating system, z/OS. On Sept. 30 CA Technologies announced same-day support for IBM z/OS 2.1.
