BEDFORD, Mass. (Business Wire) -- Progress (NASDAQ:PRGS) today named former DataFlux President and CEO and SAS executive Tony Fisher as the new leader of its data integration and collaboration business. In this role, Fisher, a noted data industry expert, will be responsible for the company's Progress DataDirect Cloud™ connectivity service, Progress DataDirect® Connect high performance data connectivity software and an innovative new self-service data integration, blending and reporting offering that will be available from Progress later in 2013.
DataFlux is a wholly owned subsidiary of SAS, the world's largest private software company. Fisher, who became president and CEO in 2000, guided DataFlux through tremendous growth as it became a market-leading provider of data quality and data integration solutions. He is also a noted author and a sought after industry speaker on emerging trends in data quality, data integration, and master data management, as well as how better management of data leads to business optimization.
Fisher will report to Progress chief product officer John Goodson. Data integration is a key aspect of the Progress® Pacific™ platform as a service (PaaS), enabling the rapid development of data-driven applications. The DataDirect Cloud service enables applications to easily integrate data from popular SaaS, relational database, Big Data, social, CRM and ERP systems. Progress DataDirect Connect high-performance data access software is for connecting applications to data and services. Additionally, Progress has previewed innovative, new technology that enables self-service integration, blending and reporting of data from multiple applications. It will be available as an on-demand cloud service in the Pacific platform later in 2013.
Prior to leading DataFlux, Fisher was the technology director at SAS. He is a native of North Carolina and earned a degree in computer science and mathematics from Duke University.
John Goodson, chief product officer at Progress, said: “Tony Fisher is one of the most innovative and forward-thinking executives in the data industry. His insight and leadership on how improved management of data leads to business optimization will further differentiate Progress Pacific and help our customers and partners efficiently address their biggest data integration challenges.”
