Garanti Teknoloji Bank Simplifies Mainframe Management with CA Chorus Software Manager09:00 EDT Tuesday, October 15, 2013
NEW YORK (Business Wire) -- CA Technologies (NASDAQ:CA) today announced that Garanti Teknoloji (GT), a subsidiary of Garanti Bank, Turkey's second largest private bank, has simplified mainframe operations by deploying CA Chorus™ Software Manager (CA CSM).
With CA CSM, GT completes product installations in a matter of minutes rather than hours, without specialist mainframe staff. In addition to improving efficiency, CA CSM has helped GT reduce risk and improve quality of service.
By helping GT's staff spend far less time on routine tasks, CA CSM enables system administrators to focus on new opportunities that meet the rapidly evolving needs of the business. And because CA CSM uses a modernized, intuitive Web-based user interface, staff members who are new to the mainframe can quickly become productive.
GT relies on an Internet banking platform that provides services to nearly 1.3 million customers. “Poor mainframe management could result in unplanned downtime, impacting customer loyalty,” said Adnan Can, GT principal mainframe specialist. “We were reliant on manual processes to maintain and install products. With a lack of experienced mainframe specialists, we needed to streamline mainframe operations as much as possible.”
“Authorized members of the team can now install and update CA Technologies products at the click of a button, regardless of whether they have any specialist mainframe knowledge,” notes Can. “When we used CA CSM to install CA NetMaster® Network Management, for example, the process was completed in just five minutes, while in the past this type of software installation could have taken up to four hours. This represents a productivity savings of up to 400 percent.”
“The CA Chorus platform is helping our customers respond more effectively to the demands of their Dynamic Data Centers by improving staff productivity and breaking down silos,” said Michael Madden, general manager, mainframe, CA Technologies. “We are pleased that CA CSM is helping Garanti better manage its mainframe to deliver improved service to its customers.”
Using CA CSM's intuitive dashboard, individual IT teams can see what fixes have been deployed by colleagues to prevent duplication of effort.
“We used to find it difficult to track what software upgrades and patches had been applied, which made problem and incident management more complicated and time-consuming,” says Ozgur Coskuner, manager of network Management at GT. “With CA CSM we can quickly see the patch status and download any new fixes that have become available.”
In addition to CA CSM, the CA Chorus platform features integrated solutions for infrastructure management for networks and systems, DB2 database management, security and compliance management and storage management.
