Metamucil And Tony Danza Team Up To Do More09:00 EST Tuesday, November 05, 2013
CINCINNATI (Business Wire) -- A local health and wellness charity can be the invisible backbone of a community – there to help advocate and better the wellbeing of the people within its area. Metamucil has set out to recognize local charities and provide an opportunity for deserving organizations to “do more.” On October 4, 2013, “The Dr. Oz Show” announced the “Do More Than You Think” contest in which Metamucil is giving consumers the chance to nominate their favorite health and wellness charity to receive a $100,000 donation. The consumer whose entry wins will also receive a trip to New York City to attend a taping of “The Dr. Oz Show.”
To help get the word out, Metamucil has partnered with long-time Metamucil user and iconic television, stage, and screen actor, Tony Danza. A health enthusiast and philanthropist, Danza knows the value of doing more for health and community, which is why he's excited to be a part of this program and to help in choosing the top 10 finalists.
“Metamucil is a huge part of my health regimen and has been for more than 20 years,” said Danza. “I'm thrilled to work with Metamucil and give people everywhere the opportunity to recognize all that their local charities do in helping better the health and wellness of the community.”
For more than 80 years, Metamucil has been helping people better their health. Metamucil contains psyllium fiber, which is proven to help lower total and bad LDL cholesterol to promote heart health. Diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol that include seven grams of soluble fiber per day from psyllium husk may reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering cholesterol. One adult dose of Metamucil has at least 2.1 grams of this soluble fiber. Metamucil can also help maintain healthy blood sugar levels as part of a healthy diet.* Metamucil has a low glycemic index, a measure of the effect of dietary carbohydrates on blood sugar levels.† Use as directed.
