Molina Healthcare, Inc. to Be Honored Along with Pau Gasol of the Lakers, Actress Jane Seymour, and Others at 2013 National Philanthropy Day Awards

LONG BEACH, Calif. (Business Wire) -- Molina Healthcare, Inc. is among seven, including Pau Gasol and Jane Seymour, to be honored at the 2013 National Philanthropy Day Awards tomorrow in Beverly Hills. Nominated by the Aquarium of the Pacific, Molina Healthcare is being recognized for Outstanding Company or Corporate Foundation by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Los Angeles Chapter. “Molina Healthcare and the Molina family have a long history of dedication to the Aquarium. We are grateful for the leadership role they play at the Aquarium, which has been instrumental to our growth and success as a nonprofit to further our mission,” said Dr. Jerry Schubel, Aquarium of the Pacific president.

Molina Healthcare CEO Dr. J. Mario Molina served as chairman of the Aquarium's Board of Directors from 2008 through 2010. CFO John C. Molina, JD currently serves as the chairman. Together they have volunteered nearly 1,000 hours for the Aquarium. “We are proud supporters of the Aquarium and other organizations that strive to make our community a better place,” said Dr. Molina. “The idea of giving back and making a positive impact especially on those who need it most has always been important to our family and a part of Molina Healthcare's unwavering mission.”

Family members Therese Molina, Michelle Molina, Drs. Faustino and Martha Bernadett, Janet and Larry Watt, and Josephine Molina and Heather Rudy all serve as Trustees of the Pacific or support the Aquarium's fundraising events. Molina Healthcare helped establish and sponsors the Aquarium's annual 5K Run/Walk. The company and the Molina family contributed $2 million to build the Aquarium's Molina Animal Care Center. Aquarium guests can observe animal exams, and children at Miller Children's Hospital can view it through videoconferencing. The Molina family also supports organizations such as Homeboy Industries, Boys and Girls Club, and local libraries.
