Jefferies to Support Typhoon Haiyan Relief

13:48 EST Thursday, November 14, 2013

NEW YORK & HONG KONG & LONDON (Business Wire) -- Jefferies announced today that the firm will contribute to relief efforts to assist people suffering from devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan. Jefferies will donate $250,000 directly to organizations providing relief efforts. In addition, the firm's 3,800 employees worldwide will be given the opportunity to donate to the relief effort as they have done many times since 2001 in response to similar disasters.

These contributions will be allocated to The Red Cross with the goal of immediately funding relief efforts directly involved in providing aid and recovery.

“All of us at Jefferies are deeply saddened and concerned over the effects of the devastating typhoon that recently struck the Philippines," commented Richard B. Handler, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Jefferies. "We hope our donation will quickly help to ease the suffering of those affected, and we encourage our employees and clients around the world to join our efforts to contribute on behalf of those in need.”

Jefferies, the global investment banking firm focused on serving clients for over 50 years, is a leader in providing insight, expertise and execution to investors, companies and governments. The firm provides a full range of investment banking, sales, trading, research and strategy across the spectrum of equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, futures and commodities, and also select asset and wealth management strategies, in the Americas, Europe and Asia.
