Post-it Brand Announces Winners of the Dreams for Good Campaign

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Business Wire) -- The Post-it Brand from 3M announces the winners of the Dreams for Good Campaign, a nationwide contest that asks people to share their ideas for improving the world for a chance to win one of three $25,000 Post-it Possibility Grants. The three contest winners plan to use their Post-it Possibility Grants to support important causes including accessibility to clean water for those in need, establishing an international day to raise awareness for child hunger, and providing local emergency medical services to keep a college campus safe.

Contest entries were submitted via the Post-it Brand Facebook page, and featured a photo of a Post-it Note displaying an innovative idea that can help change the world. The public had the opportunity to vote from a group of 15 finalists, three of whom have won the Grand Prize Post-it Possibility Grant to fund their idea.

“Big ideas often begin on a Post-it Note. And we are pleased to announce the winners of the Post-it Brand Dreams for Good Campaign, each of whom has inspired us with their big idea—to help improve the world,” said Jeff Hillins, global business director for Post-it Brand. “The Post-it Brand strives to help those who dream big each and every day, and through this program we are proud to help make these particular Dreams for Good a reality.”

The three grand prize winners who will each receive a $25,000 Post-it Possibility Grant to bring their ideas to life are:

  • Ken Adams from Dallas, TX,is changing the world one piece of paper at a time through the non-profit organization PaperForWater.org. Adams and his two daughters founded the organization by creating origami ornaments out of Post-it Notes and selling them to raise money to build water wells to bring water to the thirsty. To date, they have helped raise over $210,000 and have built more than 30 wells in India, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya and Liberia.
  • Ferdose Ahmedin from Oakland, CA,dreams of creating an international day when every child has something to eat. Her goal is to start a campaign that will allow organizations and individuals the opportunity to feed children around the world, all on the same day. She hopes the day will become an internationally recognized event raising awareness for the global effort toward ending hunger.
  • Jack Johnston from Darien, CT will support funding to buy the equipment necessary to further develop the University of Colorado Emergency Medical Services (CU-EMS) program and help keep the campus safe. CU-EMS is a student founded organization dedicated to providing EMTs to respond to emergency situations on campus. The Post-it Possibility Grant will go toward CU-EMS's end goal of purchasing their first vehicle by the end of 2014, and to further establish the campus' first on-call medical response team.
