NRG Leaders Receive Houston Business Journal Top Honors in Energy17:53 EST Monday, December 30, 2013
HOUSTON (Business Wire) -- The Houston Business Journal named John Ragan, executive vice president and Gulf Coast regional president, NRG; and Elizabeth Killinger, president of NRG Texas Retail and president of Reliant, to the 2013 list of “Who's Who in Energy” based on their industry impact, years of service and peer nominations. The list of the 100 most influential leaders in the Houston energy industry appeared in the November issue of the Houston Business Journal.
Ragan, who is receiving this honor for the third time, oversees the Gulf Coast region for NRG Energy, which has a diverse power portfolio including wholesale generation, retail electricity, Petra Nova carbon capture and NRG eVgo, an electric vehicle fast-charging network. Ragan is focused on ensuring there are adequate energy resources in the region, while keeping high standards around clean energy resources.
“I appreciate the Houston Business Journal recognition,” Ragan said. “NRG is committed to this region and I am proud to be a part of a company working hard to advance exciting new developments in the energy industry as we work to tackle the challenges of resource adequacy today and into the future.”
Ragan also gives back to the community as a volunteer with regional organizations, serving on the boards of directors for the Houston Food Bank, the Houston Technology Center, and the Galveston Bay Foundation, and participating in the Greater Houston Partnership Energy Collaborative.
Killinger leads NRG's retail electricity business in Texas, which serves customers through several retail energy brands including Reliant. Under her leadership, NRG's Texas brands are giving customers more plan choices and more tools to manage energy use. Over the last four years, Reliant has consistently been recognized by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) on the Power to Choose site, for customer service.
“I'm honored to be recognized for work we're doing to meet the evolving needs of our customers and our industry,” Killinger said. “NRG is positioning Texas for a future in which customers will have even more energy choices, and I'm looking forward to helping lead the state in a strong and stable future.”
Killinger was also recently honored in Houston Business Journal's 2013 Power Book. She serves on the executive committee and board of directors for the Greater Houston Partnership and the boards of directors for the Center for Hearing and Speech in Houston and the March of Dimes Houston Division. Additionally, March of Dimes Houston recently announced Killinger as chair of the 2014 March of Dimes' March for Babies.
