Illumina Signs Master Supply Agreement to Provide Next-Generation Sequencing Technologies to LabCorp®06:30 EST Tuesday, January 21, 2014
SAN DIEGO (Business Wire) -- Illumina, Inc. (NASDAQ:ILMN) today announced it has entered into a multi-year supply agreement with Laboratory Corporation of America® Holdings (LabCorp®) (NYSE: LH). The agreement gives LabCorp expanded rights to use Illumina next-generation sequencing (NGS) and microarray equipment and supplies to develop, validate and introduce laboratory-developed tests to clinicians in the United States and Canada.
Under the terms of the agreement, LabCorp will be able to purchase a broader range of Illumina products for the development of new diagnostic tools in multiple specialties, including genetic testing, oncology, transplant medicine and forensics, in addition to other applications. LabCorp is currently using the technology in connection with new human leukocyte antigen (HLA) tests that it plans to introduce this year.
