ST. PAUL, Minn. (Business Wire) -- 3M Critical & Chronic Care Solutions Division announced today that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has assigned product-specific Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes for the 3M™ Coban™ 2 Layer Compression System (Cat #2094). The innovative Coban 2 Layer Compression System is a compression bandaging system containing two rolls – a comfort layer and compression layer.
The comfort layer has been assigned HCPCS code A6441 (padding bandage) and the compression layer has been assigned A6452 (high compression bandage). The new codes were effective beginning January 2, 2014.
“This is an important milestone for 3M and our Coban 2 Layer Compression System, a testament to the innovation 3M has brought to the multi-layer compression market,” said Bill Cruise, 3M Critical & Chronic Care Solutions Division president. “We are pleased to see that the CMS recognizes the value that our Coban brand therapy brings to patients.”
The Coban 2 Layer Compression System provides effective therapeutic compression for the management of venous leg ulcers, lymphedema and other conditions where compression therapy is appropriate. Designed for patients of all sizes, shapes and lifestyles, the system enables patients to wear their normal shoes, helping them return to daily living activities and improving their quality of life. The comfortable Coban 2 Layer Compression System is patient-preferred and clinically proven to significantly reduce slippage, leading to successful patient compliance.
Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System codes are used by suppliers and providers for reimbursement of medical products.
