Tenet and Florida Blue Establish ACO Agreement

11:36 EDT Tuesday, June 03, 2014

DALLAS (Business Wire) -- Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE:THC) and Florida Blue, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield plan of Florida, have established an accountable care organization (ACO) agreement that covers nearly 10,000 Florida Blue commercial members in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Effective June 1, Florida Blue's members will have in-network access to Tenet's Florida-based ACO, the Advantage Health Network, which includes more than 900 physicians, as well as 10 acute care hospitals and 36 outpatient centers operated by Tenet Healthcare in South Florida.

“Tenet's ACOs are changing the way physicians coordinate and deliver patient care by reducing readmissions, ER visits and unnecessary duplication of services,” said Clint Hailey, senior vice president of managed care for Tenet Healthcare. “The clinical programs our ACOs continue to implement are improving care delivery and the overall patient experience, and we are pleased to welcome Florida Blue's members into the Advantage Health Network.”

“Tenet Healthcare is a national, leading healthcare services company, and this collaboration emphasizes both organizations' focus on enhancing the efficiency and quality of patient care,” said Andy Marino, vice president of Accountable Care for Florida Blue. “It also furthers Florida Blues' efforts to establish innovative, value-based care delivery models throughout the state.”

This announcement follows similar arrangements between Tenet and Blue Shield of California, Independence Blue Cross and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas.
