02:00 EST Wednesday, January 08, 2014

SHANGHAI, CHINA--(Marketwired - Jan. 8, 2014) - WABCO Holdings Inc. (NYSE:WBC) (www.wabco-auto.com), a global technology leader and tier-one supplier to the commercial vehicle industry, today announced that WABCO China has recently been recertified as a new and high technology enterprise by the government authorities. In 2010, WABCO became one of the first global suppliers in the automotive and commercial vehicle industry to obtain such certification in China and today WABCO remains one of the few in its field with this official status.

The renewal of WABCO's certification reaffirms WABCO's position in China as a valued supplier of new as well as high technology for commercial vehicle control systems that help original equipment manufacturers to develop and build safer and more efficient trucks, buses and trailers. It also confirms how WABCO has continued to grow its local capabilities for innovation and it further recognizes the company's continued investments in research, development and manufacturing in China.

"WABCO's technology leadership and market success in China are rooted in our unique capabilities in technological and product innovation, particularly as WABCO has pioneered the overwhelming majority of 'firsts' in the commercial vehicle industry," said Leon Liu, President, WABCO Asia, referring to WABCO's track record of inventing and introducing to market the industry's first anti-lock braking system (ABS), first automated manual transmission (AMT) system, first electronic braking system (EBS), first electronic stability control system (ESC), and the first advanced driver assistance systems, among other WABCO innovation and technology breakthroughs.

"Customers value WABCO's local capabilities in China for product application development, engineering excellence and advanced system integration," said Sujie Yu, General Manager, WABCO China. "What further differentiates WABCO in China is our strategy to 'design for China' which delivers optimal localized solutions to improve vehicle safety and efficiency, enhance driver effectiveness and sustain environmental friendliness."

"We are proud to retain this prestigious high tech certification in China as WABCO continues to deliver high quality, cost efficient products and services to customers in China and around the world," said Yu.

Headquartered in Shanghai, WABCO China has over 1,500 employees including local engineers. Its new product development center is located in Shanghai. Four factories across China are fully integrated with WABCO's global manufacturing and supply chain network and they operate using Six Sigma Lean production standards.
