EDMONTON, Aug. 21, 2013 /CNW/ - Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers (NYSE and TSX: RBA), the world's largest industrial auctioneer, will conduct a two-day heavy equipment and real estate auction in Edmonton, AB on September 4 - 5, 2013. The auction features more than 4,275 equipment items and trucks, as well as a unique opportunity to purchase premium real estate by unreserved auction—with every item in the auction, including real estate, being sold with no minimum bids or reserve prices. Available real estate includes four residential home sites on Kootenay Lake, near Creston, BC; a country residential acreage also in Creston; and a 6.8±-acre sport fishing lodge in Sandspit, BC. Bids will be accepted at the auction site, online in real-time at or by placing proxy bids in person or by phone.

"With more than 4,275 heavy equipment items and trucks already consigned, and a great selection of premium real estate, this auction will certainly have something for everyone," said Jim Rotlisberger, Regional Sales Manager, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers. "It's not every day that a sport fishing lodge goes up for sale—let alone one being sold by unreserved public auction where anyone can bid—this is a very unique opportunity. In this auction we also have a great selection of cranes, as well as earthmoving, forestry and transportation equipment."

Real estate highlights include:

  • Sandspit Adventures sport fishing lodge in Sandspit, BC - Located steps from the Sandspit marina in the beautiful Queen Charlotte Islands, this sport fishing lodge features spectacular ocean views and includes 24 private guest rooms, a great room with adjoining patio, dining room, kitchen & bar, as well as a shop/fish processing building and two storage buildings.
  • Four residential home sites (to be sold individually) in Twin Bays Village, east side of Kootenay Lake, near Creston, BC - A lakeside development, Twin Bays Village is approximately 25 minutes north of Creston, BC offering many recreational opportunities such as golf, fishing and water sports.
  • Country residential acreage with three dwellings located just north of Creston, BC
  • Two residential homes and a residential building lot (to be sold individually) located in Sandspit, BC

Equipment highlights in the auction include: 145+ pickup trucks, 90+ truck tractors, 60+ excavators, 35+ crawler tractors, 30+ flatbed trucks, 25+ wheel loaders, 15+ articulated dump trucks, 10+ motor graders and much more.

Equipment in the auction will be sold for more than 575 sellers, including forestry and earthmoving equipment for Bill Armstrong Trucking Ltd., a Thorhild, AB-based company working in multiple industries, including logging, gravel hauling and farming.

"My wife and I have been running the company for 43 years and have decided to slow down and retire the logging side of our business," said Bill Armstrong, owner of Bill Armstrong Trucking Ltd. "We've bought and sold used equipment with Ritchie Bros. many times and I like to make sure that every time I sell my equipment it is in a condition that I would want to buy myself—it's well maintained and ready to go. Ritchie Bros. has a global auction network and as a seller you can't match their ability to reach beyond the local market."

Consignments are still being accepted for the Edmonton auction; anyone interested in selling their equipment can contact the auction site at +1.780.955.2486. For more information on this or any other Ritchie Bros. auction, visit
