HAMPTON, Va., June 23, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Measurement Specialties, Inc. (the "Company") (Nasdaq:MEAS), a global designer and manufacturer of sensors and sensor-based systems, announced today Mark Thomson, Company CFO, won the CFO Award in the Publicly Traded Company Category from Virginia Business.

For nine years, Virginia Business (http://www.virginiabusiness.com/) and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (http://www.vscpa.com/Content/vscpa.aspx) (VSCPA) have teamed up to recognize CFOs work in Virginia. The prestigious Virginia CFO Awards program was developed to honor Chief Financial Officers or those holding equivalent positions whose ingenuity and dedication have led to success for their companies, their staff and their professional careers. More than 25 finalists and top winners were announced at the awards ceremony June 19 at the historic Jefferson Hotel in Richmond in the following categories: public company, small private company, large private company, small nonprofit and large nonprofit.
