WALTHAM, Mass., Feb. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) is proud to congratulate Rebecca Rhoads, president, Global Business Services (GBS) and chief information officer, on her induction into California State Polytechnic, Pomona, College of Engineering's 2014 Hall of Fame. Appropriately, the public hall of fame event will be held today on National Engineers Week's "Girl Day."

Rhoads is one of 22 inductees and among only four women in this year's hall of fame class for the Cal Poly engineering school. View a full list of 2014 inductees at:

"During Rebecca's 35 years with Raytheon, she has excelled as a leader, role model and mentor who consistently gives back as an engineer," said William H. Swanson, Raytheon Chairman and CEO. "We are thrilled that she is part of the inaugural Engineering Hall of Fame and congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition."

With two Cal Poly engineering degrees (bachelor's and master's in electrical engineering), Rhoads rose through the Raytheon ranks to CIO and on to her present elected officer position, leading GBS to improve company services and customer solutions. She is also the company's diversity champion, leading its Diversity Council, and has been an active advocate in encouraging women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

"If my example and this honor serve for anything, it is to underscore the tremendous opportunity for women in all areas of engineering, and how they can lead innovation, be creative and make a difference," said Rhoads. "For me, making a difference in support of a mission that I believe in ? helping our military and its allies ? has been undeniably rewarding."
