New Research, to Be Unveiled April 23, Indicates Training Teachers to Integrate Mobile Technology in the Classroom May Have Positive Impact on Students' Standardized Math-Test Scores

NEW CARROLLTON, Md., April 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) will join with Verizon on April 23 to announce research results on the effectiveness of an innovative professional development program for teachers that integrates mobile technology into the classroom in an effort to increase student interest and performance in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM.)

At the event, to be held at Charles Carroll Middle School in New Carrollton, ISTE and Verizon will unveil the achievement results as well as impacts on technology proficiency and STEM engagement of students who participated in the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools (VILS) program. In addition, ISTE and Verizon will unveil the Verizon Mobile Learning Academy, a free, online, moderated professional development course that will train thousands of teachers nationwide on mobile technology integration and offer continuing education units.
